Week 2 - Response to Content

The invention television (particularly analogue and digital) has been a long winded process, with the first steps towards it's design commencing in the year 1775 when Count Alessandro Volta produces static electricity by friction. After this invention, it has been 236 years and we have now got crystal clear digital television. But not without the invention and subsequently outdated technologies along the way.
in 1924/1925, American Charles Jenkins and John Baird from Scotland both demonstrated the mechanical transmission of images using a television set. This is when the first television sales were made and a new era of new communication technology was born.

The first televisions were analogue. This is because it was easiest to manufacture, and when they were first invented, this was the only possible way of creating televisions. Analogue offers a more defined sound and image, but is now being completely over-run with digital television which can reach more places globally, and offers more channels, but is more expensive.
The below image shows the difference between analogue and digital. The top image is analogue and shows that the crests and troughs move in a fluent motion, creating a more defined and richer image Where as the bottom image represents the way in which digital television is received. Not as a fluent motion, but as a digital/angular motion, resembling the lesser clarity of the two.
